Biography

I came to photography fairly recently, looking for a creative outlet after years spent developing software for a variety of companies and industries. My wife and I were both born in metro Detroit and met at Wayne State, where we both majored in Computer Science. After graduation we bounced between North Carolina, Michigan and Maryland, eventually resettling in the Detroit area. We both have deep roots here, and we wanted that sense of community as we raised our children. We have two adult sons; one is an educator and budding novelist while the other works in technology and pursues music in his spare time.

My favorite subjects come from nature— the enormous variety of landscapes, plants and trees coupled with the changing seasons makes for an endless number of beautiful, ever-changing things to photograph. I especially learned a lot over the last couple of years; while working from home I was able to watch the sun move through the seasons, highlighting different locations in our yard.
